Bikers raise funds for Zambia water projects

Ninety riders and volunteers participated in the Mennonite Central Committee West Coast Bike Ride in northern Idaho the first week in August. Jan Yoder and Gary Jewell from Spokane, Wash., pictured above, enjoy the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, a paved bike path through mountains, valleys, and along streams.

The group biked one day on the Hiawatha Trail, the “crown jewel” of all the Rails to Trails rides in the country, traversing trestles and going through tunnels.

Another day, 25 riders completed a “century day”, a 100-mile day. The group raised money for water projects in Zambia for a total of $46,000.
