Regarding the declining attendance at Mennonite Church USA’s national gathering (“The price of togetherness” and “MC USA delegates vote to keep biennial schedule,” Aug. 4): Obviously, some of the decrease in attendance is because of the smaller population of MC USA. But I wonder if some of it is because the convention has been in Kansas City so often. [It was in Kansas City in 2015, 2019 and 2023. — Editor] That’s great for the people who live nearby, but those farther away have significant travel costs. If the convention site moved to different regions, the financial burden would be spread equally, and perhaps more people could attend.
