COVID cases delay EMU student arrival, push classes online

Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va., announced Aug. 19 that positive COVID-19 cases of student leaders and potential exposure of student and resident life staff have delayed residential move-in plans to Sept. 3-6.

Fall semester courses will now begin online only on Aug. 25, and campus is closed to nonessential visitors.

EMU announced in emails to students and staff that four student leaders tested positive on Aug. 19, and all were asymptomatic. They and other individuals who were in contact with them went into quarantine.

Students already on campus were accommodated in student housing, while those en route were encouraged to return home.
