Eastern Canada Conference appoints executive minister

Siegrist Siegrist

Anthony Siegrist has been appointed executive minister of Mennonite Church Eastern Canada. The MCEC Executive Council made the announcement Nov. 8.

Siegrist is Ontario director of A Rocha, a national creation-care organization that partners with congregations.

He was lead minister at Ottawa Mennonite Church for seven years and served on the MCEC Executive Council. He worked previously at Prairie College in Three Hills, Alberta, where he was an environmental educator and wilderness guide, and at Conrad Grebel University College, where he taught in peace and environment.

Siegrist is the author of Speaking of God and has co-authored and co-edited several works on theology, creation care and residential schools. He holds a masters degree in religion from Eastern Mennonite University and a doctorate in theology from Wycliffe College/University of Toronto.

The MCEC search committee was inspired by Siegrist’s vision of the conference as a community that holds, welcomes and nurtures the diversity of its 108 congregations. MCEC is a part of Mennonite Church Canada.

Siegrist begins his role on Feb. 1, working alongside intentional interim executive team leader Ann L. Schultz.
