We’re starting a new weekly series! Every Friday, we’ll have an author that highlights five things to read, watch or check out online. This week’s post comes from Angie Santoso. Angie is 22 years old and currently living in Los Angeles, California. She has a Bachelors degree in Business Marketing, and is now attending UCLA Extension for Interior Design. On the weekends, she loves biking down the Santa Monica boardwalk with her puppy pom, Charli. She attends Maranatha Christian Fellowship in Northridge, California.
Living in LA basically means you have two seasons. “Really Hot” (Summer) and “Warm” (Fall). As we approach the “Really Hot” season, there are plenty of new things that are currently on my radar.
1. @GraceAndSalt: I’ll be honest and say I don’t read a lot, but I DO Instagram a lot. One of my favorite accounts to follow is @graceandsalt. They are a husband and wife team who have adopted two children. I have followed their Ugandan adoption story from the very beginning, and every post has never failed to fill my cup a bajillion times over: from stories of endless blood transfusions for their son in a third world country, to mom being in a coma and being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), to being blessed with a little girl, who just happens to have just been diagnosed with T1D. All this on top of the struggles that adoption comes with. It’s an amazing story of how God provides every step of the way and will never fail you. This is a story full of purpose, grace and love. You can read the story in full on their blog.
2. #aeriereal: Aerie is American Eagle’s lingerie line. The company is currently promoting body positivity by not retouching any of their photos/models. I think that this is such an important message, since girls everywhere of all ages are starting to become more self-conscious about what they look like. Social media doesn’t help either, as pictures of models are spread much quicker in larger quantities than ever before. I think #aeriereal is a great stand by Aerie, who utilize their following on social media to encourage others to love themselves, inside and out.
3. Ban.do: Along with summer comes a whole array of products that, as an Angeleno, I cannot help but have. Ban.do is a lifestyle brand built by women, for women. They sell the cutest accessories, aiming to gear you up for the summer. (How can you resist a watermelon shaped tote-bag?)
4 and 5. Us The Duo: Amidst all the chaos in the world (I mean, just turn on the news…), Us The Duo, a husband and wife singer/songwriter team, wrote this song, (Stop) Just Love to remind people to stop and just love.
Also written by Us The Duo is Slow Down Time, a song reminding us not to rush through life’s busiest moments.
