Delegates approved a name change from Ohio Conference of Mennonite Church USA to Ohio Mennonite Conference at the body’s annual conference assembly March 1-2 at Sharon Mennonite Church in Plain City.
The name change reflects that not all congregations in the conference choose to derive membership in MC USA and differentiates the conference from Ohio Conference of the Adventist Church. The vote was approved 107 to 2.
Delegates also approved a three-year strategic plan that adjusts structure and staffing, focusing on support for congregations, pastors and congregations’ action witness in their communities.
Plenary speaker Meghan Larissa Good addressed the broader Christian movement toward a Jesus-centered Christianity, noting the present is a time of opportunities and challenges.
