Thank you for bringing attention to the inequities in mainstream society’s attitudes and practices toward the American-Russian proxy war in Ukraine and the continued oppression of Palestinians in Israeli occupied Palestine (“Is the Palestinian inferior?”, Currents, Nov. 4). Why the Russian invasion of Ukraine is (rightly) condemned while the Israeli occupation of Palestine largely gets a pass is an important question to ask. Many other similar examples could be cited. As Isabel Wilkerson indicates in her book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, any hierarchy of human value should be condemned — and actions taken to restore our God-given common humanity.
