The Clinic for Special Children, a nonprofit medical and research organization that specializes in genetic and complex medical disorders found predominantly in patients from Amish and Old Order Mennonite backgrounds, is tripling its space with a new facility.
ABC 27 reported the clinic began construction in November on a $6.2 million facility in Lancaster County, Pa. Executive director Adam Heaps said the current location in Strasburg is outgrown, and the new facility will have additional examination rooms, staff office space and parking.
Founded in 1989 by pediatrician Holmes Morton, the clinic specializes in diagnosing genetic disorders and now serves more than 1,200 patients at a time. The facility last expanded in 2000.
