My pilgrimage

I resonate with the lyrics “the journey is long” from one of my favorite songs. And sometimes, this journey turns to be very dusty and dry and yes, long. But it is also true, that in the midst of the “drought,” I find myself seeking hope and longing for God, for Jesus and for the Holy Spirit.

The Triune God revealed through Scripture, communal counsel and creation, tells me that I am not alone in this life journey of mine, God walks with me and with you.

I was born in Guatemala City where I began my Christian faith journey as follower of Christ in a Mennonite Church. Since then, my Christian formation has been shaped through the lens of the Anabaptist Theology from a Mennonite perspective.

I am married to Hildalejandra who was born in Nicaragua. My two children Byron Alexander and Jessica were born in Miami, Florida were we lived for 23 yrs, until we moved to Harrisonburg, Va., in the summer of 2009.

Another moving transition occurred in the fall of 2013 when my wife and I moved to Wichita, Kan., where we currently reside. In both instances, we moved due to leadership development and church planting initiatives.

I am an ordained minister within the Mennonite Church USA and I have served the Church in many capacities; such as pastoral and church planters roles, mission program boards, educational programs references committees, constituency group board and conference council member just to named some.

In addition, as a bi-vocational minister; my professional entrepreneurial supervisory experience ranges from junior to senior management in both commerce and hospitality industries respectively.

I begun my theological training at the Instituto Biblico Menonita de Guatemala obtaining a Pastoral Theology Diploma; and I have alsi attended several courses at SEMILLA (Latin American Anabaptist Seminary); in addition, I hold a degree in Marketing. These achievements correspond to my life journey in Guatemala.

I also hold a degree from Centro Internacional de Consejeria Cristiana (International Center for Christian Counseling) for my Counseling training in Miami, Florida. Most recently in 2013, I graduated from Eastern Mennonite Seminary with a Masters in Divinity.

My passion is in Church planting, Leadership Development and as Lead pastor.

Currently, I am serving in Iglesia Menonita Aposento Alto as church planter and lead pastor; a combined effort of Western District Conference, Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, Mennonite Church of the Servant and Hope Mennonite Church in the Wichita, Kan., vicinity.

As you can see my respected reader, I will be writing out these passions. I will concentrate my attention in ecclesiology, social justice, mission and church planting, discipleship and ministry and culture competence from a Christian faith perspective. My goal and hope is to approach these themes from a twenty first century view and with the eyes of an outsider.

Therefore, I invite us to journey together as we reflect on the thoughts expressed in this blog. Please consider this reading as well: Psalm 121!
