The U.S. justice system needs to be indicted and the Central Intelligence Agency terminated. Domestic miscarriages of justice and the CIA’s actions overseas are related. Decisions to kill people are made without the victims or perpetrators coming before a court. Grand juries say police actions in Ferguson, Mo., Staten Island, Cleveland and elsewhere are not indictable. Now CIA interrogation tactics appear beyond the law. Deploying drones to spy on and kill innocent people is immoral and creates more enemies. Must the world wait for a congressional report to express regret for drone warfare? An antidote is the Religious Freedom Peace Tax legislation. This bill promises to be a significant purveyor of nonviolence in our troubled world. We could be the world’s most-loved country rather than the most hated. Let’s heed the one whose birth we celebrate this time of year: “Do to others what you would have them do to you.”
