“God Controls the Weather,” about Amish skepticism of human-caused climate change, brought back memories of words in a booklet given to me by a hitchhiker I picked up. The title was Love Letters from the Universe by Henry C. Watson. Each letter began with the greeting “Beloved” and ended with “I Am That Which Is.”
For me, “That Which Is” is a good description of the indescribable mystery of God. God is That Which Is the Weather, That Which Is the Climate — the oneness of all that exists, including the beloved Amish with their horse-and-buggy skepticism of their English neighbors with fast cars and TVs promoting the reality of climate change. We are That Which Is — each of us a part of it all.
