I was disappointed that heirs of the Anabaptist vision would acknowledge the ancient flood story of genocide with a photo and article (“Ark Replicates Genesis,” July 18). To recognize the Amish and Mennonite skills in the replica’s construction is perhaps newsworthy. Noah’s ark is the foremost symbol in a story of unimaginable destruction. The CEO of Answers in Genesis may make millions of dollars by appealing to the religious sensitivities of many, but ought we not be repulsed by the immense human suffering? To connect a story of universal genocide with the God of Christianity is a perversion.
