Stoesz bravely points out that “the moral darkness of Trumpism . . . is seasoned with unsavory ingredients of immorality, race-hating, mistreatment of children, greed and lawlessness” and notes the anomaly of evangelicals’ support for Trump. I would add that the greatest immorality of Trumpism lies in exacerbating global warming and killing our planet by pulling the U.S. out of the Paris climate accords and assigning environmental troglodytes to run the federal agencies that used to safeguard the environment. These federal agencies now enable greedy corporations and billionaire plutocrats to maximize profits by further mining and poisoning the Earth’s increasingly scarce resources, newly freed by the Trumpists from the constraints of environmental rules, regulations and safeguards. Jesus did not teach us to kill the planet, wage endless war and help the rich get richer.
