"Repentance and Transformation" resolution prompts decision
In “Virginia leaders offer guidance after Mennonite Church USA delegate vote causes concern” (Oct. 14), what struck you [AW editors] was where the leaders’ statement differed from the denomination’s direction: You led with its sentence upholding Virginia Conference’s polity of suspending the ministry credential of any pastor who conducts a same-sex marriage ceremony.
I appreciate the pushback from Gary Oyer and Alvin Mast (Letters, Oct. 14) to one of my statements quoted in “Mosaic Conference evaluating relationships with MC USA” (Sept. 23).
I believe it was an act of humility for Mennonite pastor Brad Roth to write a book about the Lord’s Supper.
Part of my heritage as a conservative Mennonite is the teaching that Christians should dress simply and modestly. At Mountain View Mennonite, the church Ivan and I currently attend, there is no standard like the one in my childhood congregation, which says women should wear cape dresses.
A large, historic church building that was the home of Cedar Falls Mennonite Church in Iowa for much of its existence was demolished Oct. 4 to make way for a residential development.
