L. Keith Weaver, moderator of LMC, an Anabaptist conference based in Pennsylvania, has retired after 22 years of service. LMC held celebrations to honor Weaver and his wife, JoAnne, Sept. 24 during its Fall Leadership Assembly at Stumptown Mennonite Church in Bird-in-Hand, Pa., and a Sept. 25 reception at its Hub 450 facility in Lancaster.
For the next three to five years, a four-person Bishop Elders Team will provide executive leadership. Team members Keith Blank, Rodney Martin, Marcia Mylin and Tuyen Nguyen “are committed to leading LMC in learning new ways of thinking and behaving as a Spirit-led movement multiplying disciples, missionaries and faith communities,” according to an LMC release.
They will ensure effective leadership is in place for the Conference Executive Council (LMC governing board), Bishops’ Council and LMC staff by facilitating further discernment about governing structures.
“The wisdom of calling a Bishop Elders Team became more evident as my retirement approached,” Weaver said. “This team has a depth of spiritual maturity to lead LMC in being a disciple-making movement following the leading of the Holy Spirit. Each one on the team brings a balance of spiritual gifts and aptitudes to create amazing synergy.”
