Mennonite Church USA convention worship speakers Nelson Okanya, Brian Moll, Iris de León-Hartshorn, Dianne Garcia and Jon Carlson will speak on being “Transformed by the Spirit” July 3-6 in Kansas City, Mo.
Okanya is Global Missions President for the Center for Serving Leadership in Pittsburgh. He is also the chair of Mennonite World Conference’s Global Mission Fellowship, a support network for Anabaptist-related churches and mission groups. Okanya served previously as a pastor and president of Eastern Mennonite Missions. He attends James Street Mennonite Church in Lancaster, Pa.
Moll is pastor of Cincinnati Mennonite Fellowship. He was previously executive director of faith-based organizations in New York and San Francisco that addressed employment difficulties for people with criminal histories and homelessness. He also founded and led a church in New York.
De León-Hartshorn is MC USA associate executive director of operations and director of human resources. She is a member of Portland Mennonite Church.
Garcia is pastor of Roca de Refugio church in San Antonio. Before becoming a pastor, she was a camp director, teacher and teacher coach.
Carlson is MC USA moderator-elect and lead pastor of Forest Hills Mennonite Church in Leola, Pa. He has served on MC USA’s Executive Board since 2019.
Other speakers will be from the Kaleidoscope of Generations, a panel that will discuss church life in a session led by worship leaders Ana Alicia Hinojosa and Jeff Hochstetler.
