MCC offering peace camps for young adults

Mennonite Central Committee Mennonite Central Committee

Mennonite Central Committee U.S. is offering two peace camps for young adults ages 18-30 to develop peace theology and practice.

“Peace Camp Puerto Rico” will run Nov. 6-11, based on issues of decolonization, community building and hospitality. Participants will stay at Centro de Retiros Paraíso en la Montaña (Paradise Retreat Center in the Mountain), tying Anabaptist theology with practical application and visiting organizations. This experience will be facilitated entirely in Spanish.

“Peace for the Weary” is designed for young adults from metropolitan areas Jan. 2-7 at Camp Deerpark in Westbrookville, N.Y. In a time when stress and anxiety are at a peak, participants will have opportunities to understand trauma, develop strategies for self-care and work at healing for themselves and for their communities.

Registration is at mcc.org/peace-camps. Because funding is often a barrier for young adults, MCC is covering all costs of travel, lodging and meals beyond the $200 registration fee.
