I was moved by the articles on the sacredness of food (July 8). They made me remember a poem I wrote, as I consider how our physical and spiritual needs are met through the sacrificial gift of food.
O Bread of Life, as grain art Thou, / like barley, wheat and rye / That for thy people from the earth / our bodies’ needs supply. / O holy Bread, Christ’s harvesting, / like corn and oats and rice, / Be Thou our soul’s Life-giving food, / Love’s own sacrifice.
