A globe-shaped metal sculpture was unveiled July 12 at the Mennonite Central Committee Connections Thrift Shop and MCC Material Resources Center in Kidron, Ohio.

Artist Emma Zuercher created the sculpture to acknowledge the partnership between the two entities.

Using recycled aluminum, the sculpture depicts the interconnectedness of MCC’s work locally and around the world.

The words “relief,” “development” and “peace” — central components of MCC’s mission — wrap around the globe. Buckets that hold kit supplies and bags for thrifted goods are represented, laced together with a cross at the center.

Zuercher, a 2023 Goshen College graduate from Apple Creek, Ohio, lives and works in Goshen, Ind., where she creates steel and aluminum sculptures.
