I applaud Jerrell Williams’ column on knowing your past (March). As the only person of color in my fellowship, it feels good to know that there are leaders of color among Mennonites. Like Williams said, so much of our Eurocentric Mennonite history is celebrated, but the people of color are not. I’ve sat through countless times of playing the “Mennonite game.” It’s just nice to say, even if I can’t go back years with your family, that I can still point to people who look like me.
