News of the release of the 12 remaining Christian Aid Ministries hostages in Haiti spread quickly Dec. 16 in and around the conservative Anabaptist organization’s Berlin, Ohio, headquarters, and elsewhere.
All of the remaining 12 Christian Aid Ministries hostages kidnapped in Haiti were released today (Dec. 16), two months to the day after a gang kidnapped the mission workers and family members, including five children.
Frieda Schellenberg Erb, 81, whose lifetime of ministry in Bolivia and Argentina included building connections between churches in North and South America, died Nov. 14 in Choele Choel, Argentina.
Tran Thi Phuoc Ly, translator of Peacemaker Ministries materials used by Vietnam Mennonite Church and other groups, died from a COVID-19 infection Sept. 3 in Ho Chi Minh City. She was 81.
Elio Milazzo, longtime producer and voice of Parole di Vita (Words of Life), an Italian radio broadcast sponsored by Italian Mennonites in partnership with groups such as Virginia Mennonite Missions, died Aug. 29.
